Revenues, Earnings Up for Acxiom

Database content and services provider Acxiom Corp., Conway, AR, reported gains of 28 percent in revenues and 41 percent in operating income for the third quarter ended Dec. 31.

Revenues for the quarter were $187.9 million, up from $147 million over the same period in 1997. Operating income was $34.9 million before a special charge of $9.375 million related to the integration of recently acquired May & Speh. Net earnings were $13.76 million or $0.17 per share compared to an EPS of $0.15 a year ago.

For the first nine months of the fiscal year, revenues increased 28 percent to $521 million and operating income was up 34 percent to $80.35 million. However, special charges led to a net loss of $36 million or $0.49 per share compared to earnings of $0.41 a year ago.

Company leader Charles Morgan said quarterly growth was driven by Acxiom’s Services, Alliances and May & Speh divisions, which saw revenue increases of 35, 27 and 63 percent, respectively.
