Return Path to Partner With Expressions Engines

Return Path, New York, said yesterday that it has reached a partnership with Expressions Engines whereby the interactive marketing firm would resell Return Path's e-mail management and change-of-address services.

As part of the agreement, Expressions Engines, New York, will offer Return Path's ECOA service and e-mail bounce-handling technology to its clients. Return Path would, in turn, direct its clients to Expressions Engines for interactive direct marketing services.

Last week, Return Path was the beneficiary of $7.7 million worth of financing led by DoubleClick and venture capital firms Flatiron Partners and Chase Capital Partners. According to the terms of that agreement, DoubleClick received the rights to invest an additional $10 million in Return Path.

Founded in December 1999, Return Path seeks to develop direct marketing-style tools for online marketers. It is headed by Matt Blumberg, a former marketing executive with MovieFone. ECOA, which is expected to debut later this year, is its first original product. SmartBounce, an existing Return Path service that processes and tracks e-mail bounces for its clients, was acquired in February.

Expressions Engines, which operated under the name Favemail until this summer, is a full-service e-marketing firm offering research and strategy, creative, message delivery and campaign analysis.
