RespondTV Joins AT&T for I-TV

RespondTV, an interactive television company, will provide its services for AT&T BroadBand's interactive television platform, the I-TV firm announced this week.

AT&T Broadband, Englewood, CA, plans to roll out its interactive television service this year and use RespondTV's infrastructure for I-TV services. The deal centers on RespondTV's ability to give the AT&T platform the capability to allow customers to order products and services during commercials through their TV sets.

RespondTV, San Francisco, is one of only two companies conducting t-commerce applications in the United States, the other being Wink. Response rates in the San Francisco area, conducted in trials with television station KBHK, have been strong. A Domino's Pizza ad drew 150 completed orders from one commercial, while a Melissa Etheridge concert — which offered a CDNow coupon for 30 percent off any of her albums — drew a 46 percent click rate; 22 percent of those who clicked used their wireless keyboards to input their e-mail addresses.
