Report: Online Holiday Buying Will Start Before November

Online retailers will benefit from an early start to holiday sales, according to a report by online credit card issuer NextCard.

The NextCard eCommerce Intentions survey found that 32 percent of online shoppers will begin their online holiday shopping before November. The survey also reported that 61 percent will shop before mid-November.

More women will be early shoppers, with 41 percent starting before November as opposed to 25 percent of men.

The greatest procrastinators are men ages 18 to 34 (19 percent of them) who plan their online shopping for the first half of December.

More men (66 percent) than women (56 percent) plan to shop online during the upcoming holiday season. Also, 23 percent of men expect to spend $250 or more for online holiday purchases, compared with 15 percent of women.

Fifty-four percent of online shoppers expect to spend up to 20 percent of their overall holiday budget online.
