Publisher sites lose millions in ad revenue as DoubleClick goes down

You’ve probably noticed all the news sites you’re visiting this morning are strangely empty looking (including ours.) That’s because Google’s DoubleClick ad server is down, and publishers everywhere are losing millions in ad revenue by the minute.

No word from Google yet, but no doubt it’s scrambling to fix the problem. However, take this opportunity to look at what an ad-free internet looks like. Is this the browsing experience we’ve always wanted? Or does it feel weird to be in a commerce free internet.

Rest assured, the team at Facebook will be high-fiving each other, welcoming the news of its biggest competitor for online ad revenue going through an all-out crisis.

UPDATE: DoubleClick is back up, order is restored in the world.
