Product Placement Keys Roxy.com, VivianLives Deal

VivianLives.com, a site that follows the life of a fictitious New York woman, has begun offering the electronic products of Roxy.com, Marlboro, MA.

Roxy's products will be featured at VivianLives' Vic's Picks section whenever a visitor clicks on the character's electronic equipment around her apartment.

In addition, visitors at VivianLives' “shop” channel will see a Roxy-labeled package falling out of a delivery truck. Viewers who click on the package will be offered Roxy products.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

VivianLives is a Web-based video cartoon that chronicles the professional career, love life, past and shopping habits of the fictional character Vivian Livingston. A “Vic-cam” constantly monitors the character, which allows viewers to see such things as her record albums and wardrobe.

This style of content programming allows the site to use product placement, rather than banner ads, as the key driver of revenue, said Jina Maher, executive editor at the site.

Maher said that regular viewers are accustomed to clicking on Vivian's items in a “Where's Waldo?” fashion to see product offerings.

VivianLives was created by Forever After Inc., New York.
