Presidential Commission, USPS Seek Comments

The Presidential Commission on the U.S. Postal Service announced in the Federal Register yesterday that it will accept final written comments now that it has concluded hearing testimony.

Final comments can be submitted in the following ways:

* By e-mail to [email protected]. Statements can be embedded in the e-mail as ASCII text or sent as a Microsoft Word or ASCII text attachment. Artwork or other graphic elements cannot be included.

* Sent on 3.5-inch, high-density disk as a Microsoft Word or ASCII text document and mailed or hand-delivered to: President's Commission on the United States Postal Service, 1120 Vermont Ave. NW, Suite 971, Washington, DC 20005.

* Typewritten statements may be mailed or hand-delivered to the same address.

E-mail transmissions of all final comments must be received no later than 5 p.m. Eastern time July 8. Mailed submissions must be postmarked no later than 5 p.m. Eastern time July 8. Final comments must not exceed 10 pages of double-spaced written text.

Meanwhile, the USPS is accepting comments on the development and drafting of its 2004-08 five-year strategic plan noted on the Federal Register.

Comments must be received by July 18. The notice, published June 13, said the USPS “solicits identification of and comment on the key factors external to the postal service and beyond its control which could significantly affect the achievement of its mission, vision, and goals.”
