President's Commission Sets First Meeting

The commission appointed by the president to review the operations of the U.S. Postal Service and suggest reforms has scheduled its first meeting for Jan. 8, according to the Department of the Treasury.

The meeting will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon at The Hotel Washington in Washington, the department said. A notice of the meeting appeared in the Federal Register earlier this week.

The commission will hear testimony from members of the USPS and Treasury. Seating will be limited to 300.

No agenda for the meeting was available as of yesterday. A Treasury official listed as a contact for information about the meeting was unavailable yesterday.
