*Prefer Network Announces Deals with FloNetwork, Orvis

NEW ORLEANS — Prefer Network, an outsource provider of Internet marketing services, yesterday announced two partnerships here at the DMA's fall show.

Prefer Network, New York, partnered with FloNetwork, an Internet direct marketing and communications company based in Toronto. The deal calls for FloNetwork to deploy all e-mails Prefer Network generates for its clients.

By the end of 2001, Prefer Network expects to produce more than 600 million e-mails for its clients.

“We need a company with a server that will be able to handle more than half a billion e-mails for us next year,” said Doug Platt, chief executive officer at Prefer Network. “FloNetwork is an e-mail provider that will help us deliver the right product to the right person.”

Prefer Network, which mostly serves catalog companies that look to outsource their online marketing programs, also teamed with Orvis.

Orvis, Manchester, VT, a longtime catalog company, will become part of an online network of Prefer Network's 57 clients. The clients cross-promote the Prefer Network Web site — www.prefer.com — to generate Web traffic, among other things.

Prefer Network plans to help Orvis market five of its catalogs online, including Orvis Clothing and Gifts, Orvis Fly-Fishing and The Sporting Tradition, Platt said.

Prefer Network aims to market Orvis' catalogs via e-mail and drive consumers to the Internet by offering discounts in the catalogs, Platt said.

“Adding the Orvis brands to Prefer Network helps us round out a broad group of clients,” Platt said.
