* Consolidated Graphics continued a buying pattern that has made it the fastest growing printer in the United States by agreeing to purchase The McKay Press subsidiary from its parent McKay Communications, Midland, MI, for an undisclosed amount. The McKay Press is a commercial printer with digital and direct mail services. Upon completion of pending acquisitions, Consolidated Graphics will own 46 companies with combined revenues of more than $550 million.

* Perry Judd's, Waterloo, WI, has announced an agreement to sell its Port City Press division to Mack Printing, Easton, PA. Port City, a printer of technical journals and reference directories, wasn't deemed a strategic fit with Perry Judd's publication and catalog printing divisions. Terms of the sale, which is expected to close by Aug. 31, were not disclosed.

* Envelope and printing consolidator Mail-Well Inc., Englewood, CO, will acquire commercial and label printer McLaren, Morris and Todd Ltd., Ontario. McLaren, which recorded 1997 sales of $34 million and specializes in the printing of direct mail pieces. Mail-Well also has acquired Florida-based sheetfed printer Graphics Illustrated and its affiliate Digital X-Press.

* FormWare Corp., Park City, UT, and Wheb Systems, San Diego, have agreed to merge to form Captiva Software Corp. Both companies make products that are used to automate data capture from forms to populate databases and document management systems.
