Postage By Phone Reaches Million Mark

Pitney Bowes, Stamford, CT, last week signed up its one-millionth Postage By Phone customer, the Easter Seals Society of Philadelphia, to the service that allows businesses to refill postage meters by transferring postage funds over a toll-free phone line and avoid making a trip to the post office.

Pitney Bowes estimates the Postage By Phone Meter Resetting System saves U.S. businesses 8 million trips to the post office every year to manually refill their meters and has accounted for $750 million in savings since its inception in 1979. Postage By Phone processes $10 billion in postage transactions per year, roughly one third of all U.S. postage meter revenue.
