Pernick Wins 2002 DMA Teleservices Excellence Award

PALM BEACH, FL — Industry veteran Sandy Pernick, president of S. Pernick & Associates, has won the Direct Marketing Association's Teleservices Excellence Award for 2002, the DMA announced yesterday.

Pernick, a past president of the American Teleservices Association, started and sold her own teleservices agency and is now a consultant representing telemarketing clients. She has taught the telemarketing module of DePaul University's direct marketing program.

Pernick, who accepted her award at the DMA Teleservices Conference 2002 here, recalled getting her start with business-to-business telemarketing pioneer Larry Kaplan in 1981. Kaplan, she recalled, taught her the basics of the business.

“I, in return, introduced him to his wife, and in spite of everything we're still friends,” Pernick said.

Past recipients of the DMA Teleservices Excellence Award include Rudy Oetting and Geri Gantman of Oetting & Co., Jon Hamilton of JHA Telemanagement, Joan Mullen of Ron Weber and Associates and Roberta Black, now-retired CEO of Dialogue Marketing.
