Online Print Shop Near Top of Unique List

Internet research firm PC Data Online said this month that an Internet-based print shop was among the five retail sites with the most unique buyers in November.

Redwood City, CA-based iPrint.com ranked fifth behind Amazon.com, Buy.com, eToys and barnesandnoble.com. The privately held, online printing firm lets small businesses and consumers design and order ad specialty promotional items, stationery and gifts.

PC Data, Reston, VA, uses sampling for its research. The firm estimates “buy rates” based on the number of unique home-based users who visit a transaction-related page within sites. The firm defines Internet retail sites as those where visitors can actually purchase products. Auction, travel reservation and financial services sites do not count, for example.

According to PC Data’s figures, iPrint had 331,000 unique buyers among its 2,217,000 unique users in November, giving the commerce site a buy rate of 14.9 percent. The company’s overall Web reach was 3.3 percent.
