Market research firm International Data Corp. (IDC), Framingham, MA, and Web demographic research firm RelevantKnowledge, Atlanta, recently projected the number of home Web users will grow from 30 million to 102 million by 2002.
The two firms' first quarterly Web trend report showed that the percentage of home users who buy online will increase from 36 percent to 50 percent. Other findings revealed that 56 percent of the Web audience is male, with men ages 18-34 being the most highly represented age, and nearly a quarter of visitors to commerce sites have incomes above $75,000.
