Omnicom Group’s revenue rises in Q2

Omnicom Group‘s Q2 2012 global revenue increased 2.1% to $3.56 billion, compared with 3.49 billion in Q2 2011, the company said in its Q2 2012 earnings statement released July 17.

During the same period, domestic revenue increased 5.4% to $1.86 billion, compared with 1.76 billion in Q2 2011. Net income at Omnicom Group was up 2.8% to $282 million during Q2 2012, from $275.1 million in Q2 2011.

Omnicom CEO John Wren said during the earnings call that he believes the most successful marketing companies, going forward, will have integrated solutions, as his company strives to have. “We are just learning how to fully utilize social media and smartphone technology. To be successful, agencies must blend all these media,” he said.

During the company’s Q1 conference call, Wren noted that although revenues were up, Europe would be a risky market in the immediate future. However, Omnicom EVP and CFO Randall Weisenburger said July 17: “Our agencies in many of the emerging markets, especially in China, Russia, and India, have continued to turn in exceptional growth.”

Wren cited U.S. unemployment rates and the upcoming U.S. presidential elections as reasons that may stagnate growth, or create unpredictability in the market, throughout the rest of the year.
