*Olympics to Allow Streaming Video, Audio

The International Olympics Committee yesterday reversed an earlier decision and announced that is allowing NBC to stream video and audio content of the Summer games on the Internet at NBCOlympics.com. But, the video segments can be no longer than 20 minutes and will only be available online 24 hours after the event has concluded.

Axient Communications, the company handling the broadband delivery for NBC, will not be inserting ads or selling any advertising in either video or audio streams. The only e-commerce applications will be a link from NBCOlypics.com to an Olympic themed online shopping mall. Previously, the committee was worried that Webcast content would violate international television broadcasting deals it was locked into.
