OfficeMax Revamps BTB Site

OfficeMax launched a redesigned business-to-business e-commerce site yesterday intended to simplify the shopping experience for its more than 600,000 contracted business customers.

The redesign aims to meet the needs of businesses that buy office products based on a pre-negotiated contract, many of which order supplies daily. Some of the changes were made based on feedback from OfficeMax's business customers in focus groups.

New features include navigation menus that allow users one-click access to anything on the site; user-friendly menus that make it easy to locate products; access to past orders for quick reference; an automatic-save function so users don't lose their orders if they're interrupted; the ability to arrange billing to multiple cost centers in a single order; and the ability to customize the site by choosing which products and other information are presented to users.

OfficeMax was acquired by Boise Cascade Corp. in December. The two are still in the process of merging their businesses. The new site reflects the evolution of the OfficeMax brand for the company's Boise Office Solutions BTB customers. The site address will remain boiseoffice.com until 2005.
