NY Times Syndicates Meredith Content

Meredith Corp., the publisher of magazines such as Ladies' Home Journal, Midwest Living and Better Homes and Gardens, signed a syndication agreement with The New York Times Syndicate.

The deal gives the Times syndicate exclusive rights to reproduce branded material from all Meredith magazine properties in its worldwide network of newspapers and their associated Web sites.

Meredith, Des Moines, IA, said the multi-year deal extends the brand reach of its home, family and women's lifestyle magazines. Content delivered through syndication will include weekly columns, seasonally themed pages or special sections. The deal takes effect this quarter.

Meredith produces 17 magazine brands, including American Baby and More, and publishes 150 special-interest publications. The family-owned company owns or operates 14 television stations in markets such as Atlanta, Phoenix and Portland, OR. Its portfolio includes 350 books in print.

The Times deal is among many alliances for Meredith. The publisher has marketing relationships with Home Depot, DaimlerChrysler and Carnival Cruise Lines. These companies vie to reach the 75 million names in Meredith's consumer database.
