MobilePlanet, a Pocket PC 2002 launch partner, Friday announced that the next generation of Microsoft Windows-Powered Pocket PC 2002-based hardware, software applications and accessories from leading manufacturers will be available for purchase at MobilePlanet.com.
MobilePlanet sells mobile computing and wireless products to business and mobile professionals. It is calling Pocket PC 2002 the next-generation software for personal digital assistants.
According to MobilePlanet, some of Pocket PC 2002's new features include:
· The latest version of Windows Media Player 8.0 and support for the highest level of digital rights management, which enables electronic reading possibilities via the new version of Microsoft Reader.
· The ability to support the newly released ActiveSync 3.5 technology, the latest version of Microsoft's synchronization software that includes improved USB connectivity and enhanced remote synchronization capabilities.
· Allowing a range of wireless connectivity options from local area networks and personal area networks to wide area networks.
· More ways to communicate with co-workers and friends, including MSN Messenger Service for instant messaging
