Specialty toy retailer Toys “R” Us Inc. has opened a 574,000-square-foot fulfillment center in Groveport, OH, to meet inventory needs for its online store during the upcoming holidays.
The new warehouse creates nearly 300 full-time and 400 seasonal, part-time jobs. It supports another 340,000-square-foot company warehouse in Groveport.
The Wayne, NJ, retailer’s deal comes soon after Toys “R” Us took control of its site at www.toysrus.com July 1 to offer an integrated online and offline shopping experience. Amazon previously ran its online store.
Toys “R” Us, the nation’s No. 2 toy seller after Wal-Mart Stores Inc., struck a deal this year with logistics provider Exel to deliver items sold through toysrus.com. The new fulfillment center operated by Exel will begin shipping customer orders Sept. 25.
