Mobile firm Vibes Media acquires Zeep Mobile

Mobile marketing vendor Vibes Media has acquired self-service firm Zeep Mobile for an undisclosed amount.

Zeep’s mobile technology, which allows marketers to communicate with consumers via text message, will be integrated into Vibes’ platform. Vibes has SMS and mobile advertising tools in place, but the acquisition will enhance its analytics and targeting capabilities.

“It is really a technology acquisition,” said Jack Philbin, founder and president of Vibes Media. “This gives us better targeting capabilities, analytics and insights. We are also going to be aggressively improving our location capabilities.”

Zeep’s offices in Vancouver, British Columbia and Irvine, CA will be closed, and all Zeep employees will be relocated to Vibes’ Chicago offices. Philbin said there will not be any layoffs.

Scott Robertson, president and CEO of Zeep, will relocate to Chicago and stay with Vibes.

Philbin added that Vibes is planning to open offices this year, possibly in New York and Los Angeles.
