Mitsubishi Picks Poet for e-Marketplace Efforts

Mitsubishi Corp. yesterday announced it had chosen Poet Software's Poet eSupplierWeb as the e-catalog content management solution for its e-procurement and e-marketplace initiatives. The business-to-business marketplace is expected to launch at the end of October.

Mitsubishi said it will use eSupplierWeb, Poet's hosted e-catalog creation, management and distribution system specifically designed for e-marketplace operators and application service providers, to offer suppliers and buyers an efficient, cost-effective way to manage and create a catalog for its marketplace formatted through software provider Commerce One.

Poet Software provides supplier enablement applications for BTB operations.

Mitsubishi said it will build e-marketplace solutions and hosted e-procurement solutions using Commerce One's MarketSite and BuySite applications. While Commerce One will let Mitsubishi handle the transactions and build an e-marketplace, Poet Software will enable it to create e-catalogs for the e-marketplace, Mitsubishi said.

The integration of Poet eSupplierWeb and Commerce One applications will let Mitsubishi create and maintain e-catalogs with a large number of SKUs for both direct and indirect goods for vertical industries, including energy, transportation, machinery, utilities, pharmaceuticals and education. Mitsubishi has 80,000 to 90,000 direct and indirect SKUs.
