Merrill Lynch, New York, and HSBC Holdings, London, yesterday said they will form an online financial services venture to serve customers outside of the United States.
The venture — modeled on Merrill Lynch’s Direct Service, which is targeted to affluent investors — will offer online banking and brokerage services and attempt to attract retail customers.
