Markus Wilhelm to Receive DMEF Educational Leadership Award

Bookspan CEO Markus Wilhelm will receive the Direct Marketing Educational Foundation's 26th Edward N. Mayer Educational Leadership Award, the foundation announced yesterday.

The award recognizes Wilhelm's strong commitment to the support and development of direct marketing education for tomorrow's direct marketing leaders.

The award will be presented at the Foundation's Annual Awards Dinner on Saturday, Oct. 19 as part of the 85th annual DMA Conference and Exhibition in San Francisco. Three hundred industry leaders are expected to attend.

Wilhelm has been involved in DMEF leadership activities for more than a decade. During that time, he served two terms on the DMEF Board of Trustees. He is a regular and significant contributor to DMEF, and has provided video production, printing, and copywriting services. Wilhelm currently chairs the ad hoc Committee for Direct Marketing Education, which explores DMEF initiatives that will best serve DMA members and the industry as a whole.

The DMEF education leadership award is named for Ed Mayer. Mayer, who died in 1975, was one of DMEF's founders.

Also at the dinner, a special Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Robert F. DeLay for outstanding contributions to education and to the DMEF. DeLay was one of DMEF's founders and is a former president of the Direct Mail/Marketing Association, which became the DMA.
