List Veteran Robin Black Dies at 70

List veteran Robin R. Black died May 19 at Northern Westchester Hospital Center in Mount Kisco, NY. He was 70.

Black founded Computer Directions Corp. in 1969 with Jim Knox. The company merged with Woodruff-Stevens Associates in 1975 and became Computer Directions Group. A year later, the company bought Names Unlimited, where Black served as president until 1990.

“Robin literally created the concept of list management and put it on the map,” said Ralph Stevens, managing partner at MKTG Services. “He was a pioneer in the list business and an incredibly nice and kind gentleman who initiated lots of the methodology that we now use in list management.”

Black is survived by his wife, Mildred of Mount Kisco; his sons, David of Briarcliff Manor, NY, and Jason of Fort Miller, NY; his daughter, Tiffany of Briarcliff Manor; and his sister, Louise of White Plains, NY.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Cassidy-Flynn Funeral Home, 288 Main St., Mount Kisco.
