List Firms Offer Free Suppression to Affected Areas

Many list companies are offering free suppression services and deductions on their managed files in response to the devastation left by Hurricane Katrina and the U.S. Postal Service ceasing delivery of Standard and Periodicals mail to affected areas.

The USPS is accepting no Standard or Periodicals mail — from any source — addressed for delivery within the following three-digit ZIP code ranges:

· Louisiana: 700 and 701.

· Mississippi: 369, 393, 394, 395 and 396.

Companies that have announced no-charge suppression include 21st Century Marketing, Farmingdale, NY; American List Counsel, Princeton, NJ; Datagence Inc., Red Bank, NJ; MKTG Services, New York; and Rubin Response Management Services Inc., Schaumburg, IL. Others are likely to follow.

In addition, The Information Refinery, Mahwah, NJ, said last week that it is offering free postal and e-mail file use within a 500-mile radius of New Orleans for nonprofits, government agencies and other humanitarian groups. The company offers lists of builders, remodelers, contractors, architects and engineers.
