Direct marketing services start-up LifeMinders.com Inc., Herndon, VA, is gearing up to target consumers nationwide over the Internet with daily, advertising-sponsored e-mail messages offering weather forecasts for more than 100,000 U.S. cities and locations on an hourly basis.
“We’ll be launching a weather product, but we’re also launching our first daily delivery product, which will allow us to increase our advertising inventory by more than 50 percent,” said Stephen Chapin, CEO.
“The bottom line is, we’ll have significantly more product to offer our 220 existing partners and all prospective advertising partners,” he said.
LifeMinders, which went public in November 1999, also announced a renewal of its advertising agreement with electronic commerce company Mercata Inc., Bellevue, WA, an Internet retailer that provides online shoppers with Internet tools which help combine their wish lists and product interests in order to obtain group discounts from multiple retailers.
Under the deal, Mercata advertising will appear in the e-mail messages that LifeMinders sends to individual members from its 7.5-million-member base. Consumers will be able to link directly to Mercata’s site through banner ads in LifeMinders’ e-mails.
