Sources report that Liberty Digital's offer to Sony to purchase a 50 percent stake in the Game Show Network will be accepted. The deal will be worth $250 million in cash and will involve 1.8 million shares of stock worth approximately $50 million.
The companies reportedly will work to make the channel fully interactive through both set-tops and Internet play-along.
The Game Show Network debuted in 1994 and reaches nearly 29 million homes, adding 9.9 million this year alone, not including those that will be added when the network debuts on Time Warner Cable Aug. 31. The network is expected to break even for the first time this year.
Sony and Liberty Digital also both own the majority of Spanish language network Telemundo.
