I found Scott Hovanyetz’s article of interest (“Telemarketers Worry National DNC List Debate Is Only Over the Details,” June 10). I did telemarketing during my second year of college. While I fully understand the point of your article, the industry should have done a better job of regulating itself.
As a consumer, it’s so annoying to receive telemarketing calls [often using predictive dialers]. I’ve also had the unfortunate situation of having had a telemarketer record me a sale when I said no. It’s so messy and annoying to have to find the time to get the matter undone.
I welcome the regulatory control. There has to be a way to do business “ethically” and still provide ample opportunities for employment.
