Leo to Receive CADM’s Wheelless Award Posthumously

Direct marketing practitioner, consultant and educator Kevin Leo will posthumously be presented with the Chicago Association of Direct Marketing’s Fourth Annual Pat Wheelless Award for Outstanding Mentorship on Nov. 10 during the association's Fifth Annual Bob Stone Education Day luncheon at the Westin Hotel.

Leo, president of Leo Direct Unlimited, died in July at age 58. He served as president of CADM in 1986-87, and his career included positions at Kobs Gregory Passavant; AyerDirect; and Ogilvy & Mather Direct. A frequent Echo Award winner, he produced results for clients such as Abbott Laboratories, Allstate, Citicorp, John Deere, Dremel Tool, Neiman Marcus and Sears.

Leo’s wife, Diane, will accept the award on his behalf. The award is named after former CADM president Pat Wheelless and recognizes a spirit of professional generosity characterized by the encouragement of professional growth of other direct marketing professionals over the course of a career.

J. Walker Smith, president of Yankelovich Partners Inc., will give the keynote address at the all-day Education Day. That evening, CADM will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a reception at the John Hancock Center. For more information about either event, go to www.cadm.org or contact executive director George Buckley at 312/849-2236, ext. 25, or [email protected].

The club also is preparing for its 51st Annual Chicago DM Days & Expo, which will occur April 7-8 at Navy Pier.
