KB Toys yesterday said it will begin using the Pittsylvania, VA, fulfillment center from its recent eToys purchase by mid-September.
The Pittsfield, MA-based retailer will use the 440,000-square-foot center to process, pack and ship KBkids.com orders. The company plans to hire more than 150 full-time employees for the facility and as many as 300 seasonal workers to support its holiday business.
The fulfillment center was part of KB Toys' $3.35 million purchase of eToys in May. The purchase also included the defunct e-tailer's trade name, Web domain name, logos and trademarks. KB also paid $5.4 million in April for eToys' unsold inventory.
Meanwhile, the existing KBkids.com fulfillment center in Danville, KY, will transition back to its original role as a distribution center for the company's 1,300 outlet stores.
