IVillage.com, Ladies Home Journal Team Up to Target Women Voters

Women’s news Web site iVillage.com and magazine publisher Ladies’ Home Journal announced an agreement yesterday that the firms will co-publish articles regarding the 2000 election and women’s issues.

Articles stemming from the deal will be published at www.ivillage.com and www.ladieshomejournal.com and in the print edition of Ladies’ Home Journal.

The publishing companies are banking on the growing perceived importance of the women’s vote on presidential elections as a base for the marketing initiative. The companies are sponsoring ongoing polls concerning healthcare and education, as well as publishing campaign diaries of female senatorial candidates.

IVillage.com says the agreement highlights the New York-based firm’s efforts to target women voters during this election year in hopes of expanding its viewership. The Web company will also get mention in Ladies’ Home Journal, New York, for every political article co-published by the two firms.
