Internet navigation service Infoseek, Sunnyvale, CA, is now the exclusive provider of search and directory services on Microsoft Corp.’s WebTV Networks because of an agreement the two recently reached.
The two-year deal calls for Infoseek to pay WebTV a minimum of $26 million. Infoseek will be in charge of managing the advertising sales for online search and content advertising, including banner inventory.
Infoseek will keep 100 percent of the advertising revenue up to a predetermined amount, after that the revenue will be shared by the two. From June to August, WebTV Networks reported that it received an average of more than 40 million viewers a day.
