iFreedom.com Inc., Phoenix, said its free Internet service can now be dialed up in more than 2,800 U.S. and Canadian cities. The Internet provider also claimed to be more consumer-friendly than other providers because it doesn’t require viewers to always see an ad banner. Spencer Piller, vice president of operations, said banner ads distract and delay Web surfing.
“iFreedom’s model is more like regular TV, where the ads appear only a few items an hour,” he said. “[Another system] is not only slower, but it is terribly distracting – like watching TV with a constant commercial at the top of the screen.”
