Hoover’s launches consumer-facing Jobseeker Reports

Hoover’s ventured into the business-to-consumer market for the first time on September 30 with the launch of Jobseeker Reports. Available for download at Hoovers.com/jobseeker, each report includes company description, contact information, top competitors, recent company news, stock performance and key financials. The price is $19.95 and up per report.

“We’ve found that when people are doing job hunts, they come to us for information on the companies they’re applying for,” said Adam Hanin, subscription marketing leader at Hoover’s. “Now, instead of doing numerous searches online and finding content from other sources that may or may not be accurate, job hunters can quickly find the relevant information they need on a company before going into an interview.”

He added that the reports, created by the company’s 80-member editorial team, contain content unique to Hoover’s. The company is also routinely updating them to reflect timely news and information.

The company worked on the reports for between five and six months, Hanin said.

“With the economy going down and unemployment going up, we saw a need for this in the market, especially because there are so many people in the job market for the first time in a long time,” he said.

Hoover’s is promoting the reports on its homepage and on partner sites. The effort’s purpose is to both retain existing customers and gain new ones.

“As a business-to-business company, we focus on information on businesses of all sizes and types, so extending down into business-to-consumer seemed like a natural extension,” he said. “We hope to reach those who already trust the information from Hoover’s and also a series of new customers who may not have heard of us before.”

Hanin added that he hopes those users will then turn to Hoover’s for business-facing information.
