Hearst Magazines unveils TheDailyGreen.com for Earth Day

Hearst Magazine has created a new consumer Web site to coincide with Earth Day. The new site at www.thedailygreen.com is dedicated to Earth-friendly living.

It will also serve as a meeting place for green consumers and offer information on natural foods, energy conservation and the environment.

Debuting April 22, TheDailyGreen.com will feature daily eco-tips, key environmental news, advice on how to enjoy a more sustainable life with energy-saving choices, and recipes and ideas for creating a more toxin-free home.

The site will serve as a social-networking community. Weird Weather Watch, for instance, a user-generated photoblog that contains photos taken by backyard environmentalists, will be a key feature.

News of the site launch follows Hearst’s announcement that it will begin promoting the “Please Recycle” logo in the July issue of its magazines.

Sixty percent of the target audience of TheDailyGreen.com will be college-educated, professional women age 25 to 54. The site will be featured editorially each month in House Beautiful and on various other Hearst magazine Web sites.

TheDailyGreen.com will have social networking pages on MySpace and Facebook.
