Global Mail Acquires QuickMAIL

Global Mail, the $65 million Sterling, VA-subsidiary of Deutsche Post AG, Bonn, announced yesterday that it has acquired QuickMAIL, the international mail division of Quick International Courier, New York, a high-priority shipment specialist.

Deutsche Post, the second-largest postal service worldwide, acquired Global Mail in 1998. The company is a leading international mail service provider that specializes in internationally distributing catalogs, newsletters, publications, daily correspondences and direct mail pieces from the United States. Also, Global Mail, currently the only U.S. enterprise of its kind to offer a full service guarantee, offers enhanced services such as addressing and list maintenance and a mail-activity chargeback system.

According to all parties involved, the acquisition of QuickMAIL will increase Global Mail’s national presence and enable it to offer even-more enhanced solutions nationwide.

“The addition of QuickMAIL is excellent news for U.S. firms seeking a one-step solution for their international mail and logistics needs,” said Harry L. Geller, president/CEO, Global Mail. “QuickMAIL’s ability to handle high-volume mailings and complete tracking, for example, is a major complement to our existing capabilities.”

Geller also said QuickMAIL’s regional strength — particularly in the New York metropolitan area — will be a big plus for Global Mail.

QuickMAIL has been growing exponentially since its launch in 1990, according to Robert J. Mitzman, president, Quick International Courier. In the 1998/99 business year, QuickMAIL and its 100-strong staff achieved a revenue of $24 million, and the company has production sites in New York, Los Angeles and Canada.

In a statement, Uwe R. Dorken, managing director, international, at Deutsche Post, said that the acquisition is part of the company's strategy to “provide our U.S. customers with a full range of international mailing services. … QuickMAIL’s expertise and value-added services make it a natural choice to add to our expanding range of mail solutions in the U.S.”
