Global Direct's Net Sales Increase 31 Percent for 1Q

Global DirectMail Corp., a direct marketer of computer products, reported that net sales for its first quarter ended March 31 reached $358.4 million, an increase of 31 percent from $273.5 million for the same period last year.

The company announced that net income for the first quarter grew about 6 percent to $12.9 million, from $12.1 million last year.

“As planned, we reduced the cost of our PCs more than market driven drops in components,” said Richard Leeds, chairman and CEO of Global DirectMail, Port Washington, NY. “We successfully translated those savings into increased unit sales at higher profit margins compared to the year-ago quarter.”
