Former Chairman Takes Over as ATA's Executive Director

The American Teleservices Association’s board of directors has selected former chairman Tim Searcy to replace the president of the group’s outside management firm as executive director.

Searcy, who announced the leadership change yesterday, will take over the position from Jason Clawson, president of Management Options Inc. The transition will be completed by the end of the month.

As executive director, Searcy will be a paid staff member of the ATA. He left his position as senior vice president of teleservices agency Optima Direct a year and a half ago to serve as campaign manager for Brose McVey, an Indiana Republican who was defeated in his bid for Congress in 2002.

Near the end of 2002, Searcy became head of the ATA’s strategic defense fund, which is being raised to support the association’s court challenge of the Federal Trade Commission’s national no-call list.
