FedEx Express Expands Germany-to-U.S. Flights

FedEx Express is providing additional European cities with next-day service to the United States via the introduction in March of five weekly direct flights from Cologne, Germany, to Memphis, TN.

The flights will provide next-business-day service for shippers in the industrial heartland of Germany as well as markets in Belgium and the Netherlands.

FedEx Express is an operating unit of FedEx Corp., Memphis.

FedEx’s trans-Atlantic capacity will increase 20 percent for service to the United States. FedEx International Priority Freight service for customers in Germany will be improved. In western Germany, shippers will benefit from later pickup times of up to three hours.

FedEx Express already has direct flights from Stanstead, England; Paris; and Frankfurt, Germany, to FedEx hub locations in the United States.

The announcement follows a series of FedEx service improvements aimed at expanding the company’s network and connectivity. In the past eight to 12 months, FedEx has opened stations and added flight routes throughout Europe. FedEx connects more than 80 percent of the European economy to its EuroOne network and has doubled its network reach in the past five years.
