FedEx, AT&T Wireless Create New Wireless Solutions

FedEx couriers will use new wireless technology from AT&T Wireless, the two companies announced at the annual CTIA Wireless convention in Orlando, FL, yesterday.

As part of the five-year agreement, FedEx Express, Memphis, TN, will integrate AT&T's high-speed wireless data networks with its information technology infrastructure. Couriers will use the PowerPad, a new hand-held device from FedEx, with AT&T Wireless' next-generation network solutions. Couriers will be able to update customer-package information almost immediately and have online access to up-to-date shipping information, such as inclement weather advisories, customs-clearance information and shipping rates.
