Fantasy Sports Strikes Deal With Turner Sports for Nascar

In an effort to boost its subscriber base, Fantasy Sports Inc., a provider of fee-based Nascar-related games, has formed a one-year agreement with Turner Sports Interactive Inc., which operates Nascar's Web site.

Under terms of the deal, Fantasy Sports, York, PA, a wholly owned subsidiary of Silverstar Holdings Ltd., Boca Raton, FL, will embed a link to its site, www.fantasycup.com, on Nascar's Web site, www.nascar.com. Users can access the link by entering the games section on Nascar's home page.

Fantasy Sports and Turner Sports Interactive, Atlanta, will share revenue based on the number of users derived from Nascar's Web site who play the games, which cost $99.95 per half season.

Greg Liegey, president of Fantasy Sports, said the deal also calls for Nascar to include links to Fantasy Sports in Nascar's e-mail newsletter. But while Nascar's newsletters are weekly, he said, a Fantasy link will not always be included.

In addition, Liegey said Fantasy Sports banner ads would be plastered on different sections of Nascar's Web site.

“This agreement reflects well on our efforts to broaden our marketing alliances,” Liegey said.

He also said the deal, which gives both companies the option to renew, leaves open the possibility of Fantasy Sports managing other fantasy games for Nascar.
