Facebook Expands Free Mobile App Program

Facebook today announced that FbStart—a free startup program it conferred on attendees of its F8 developer conference two weeks ago—has been opened up to a larger group. Interested parties can now apply to qualify for free tools and services worth up to $30,000.

FbStart users receive credits for Facebook ads and Parse app tech services plus free tools and credits for testing, recruiting, customer care, video conferencing, and document management, among other goodies.

Any developers with public iOS or Android apps are eligible, and their apps don’t need to be integrated with Facebook. There are two tracks in FbStart—the Bootstrap program for companies just starting out and the Accelerate track for established apps looking to grow.

FbStart partners include Adobe, Asana, Desk.com, HootSuite, MailChimp, SurveyMonkey, and Transifex.
