Andy MacMillan, who served as COO of Salesforce.com’s products group from 2012 to 2015, has been named CEO of Act-On Software, one of the leading providers of marketing automation to small- and medium-sized businesses. He takes over the helm from founder Raghu Raghavan, who will henceforth serve as chief technology officer.
“Andy’s experience and background will be a huge asset for the rapid growth of the company,” said Raghavan in a press release issued today. “He brings a proven track record for driving business demand and furthering customer adoption.”
Before joining Salesforce, MacMillan spent five years at Oracle, where he rose to VP of product management for WebCenter and Oracle Social Network. Prior to that he was VP of product marketing at Stellent. He began his career as a Web application developer at H. Ross Perot’s Electronic Data Systems.
The hiring of MacMillan is no doubt intended to add fuel to Act-On’s growth initiative. Earlier this year the company introduced Act-On Anywhere, an application that can be downloaded to a browser and easily accessed by companies of any size.
