Express Carriers, Chinese Post Office Settle Differences

The four largest express delivery companies settled a dispute regarding the Chinese post office's attempt to hamper their operations in China, the Associated Press reported Friday.

FedEx Corp., United Parcel Service, DHL Worldwide Express Inc. and TPG N.V. accepted a new licensing system mandated by the State Postal Bureau after the government's promise that it would not affect their businesses, according to the report.

U.S. officials complained to China about the restrictions, which threatened to violate China's World Trade Organization commitments to open markets to foreign competitors.
