Experian Marketing Solutions Cuts 170 Jobs

Experian Marketing Solutions let go 170 people, 5.6 percent of its workforce, last month.

The cuts affected management and non-management personnel. Most were in the firm's Schaumburg, IL, headquarters, although other offices also lost staff, said spokesman Donald Girard.

Girard said some of the money saved by the move would be used in more profitable areas of the company, such as Experian Automotive.

The Marketing Solutions unit of Experian North America offers database services. Sales rose 4 percent in the first quarter from the same period last year, Girard said. The quarter ended June 30.

Experian's Information Solutions unit, which provides credit reporting services, laid off 150 employees — 10 percent of its workforce — earlier in July.

Meanwhile, Experian Automotive, Orange, CA, the automotive information division of Experian, has introduced AutoDemographicsNow.com, a Web-based tool that gives automotive manufacturers accurate vehicle information to identify and reach customers.

Experian Automotive also launched Auto4Customers, a Web-based marketing tool that helps automotive dealers create profitable customer relations and build consumer loyalty campaigns.
