Epsilon hires Dorland, Lovelady

Database marketing technologies and services provider Epsilon has appointed two industry veterans to leadership positions.

Alan Dorland has been named vice president of data acquisition of Epsilon’s Data Services group and Jim Lovelady has been named vice president of sales, western region of Epsilon’s Interactive Services group.

Epsilon said the creation of these positions reflects Epsilon’s continuing, rapid growth and the company’s commitment to recruit highly qualified management to add overall value and proven leadership.

Founded in 1969, Epsilon is headquartered in Dallas, and comprises four business groups including Strategic Database Services, Interactive Services (formerly Epsilon Interactive), Agency and Direct Services and Data Services (formerly CPC Associates Inc.). Epsilon is an Alliance Data company.

Mr. Dorland, a 25-year industry veteran, will be responsible for directing the company’s data acquisition and offering strategy, managing existing data source relationships and evaluating data in support of the company’s modeling group. Dorland will be based in Epsilon’s Dallas headquarters, and he will report directly to Epsilon’s Data Services group’s president, Dave Thornbury.

Mr. Dorland joins Epsilon from Experian in Lincoln, NE, where he served as data acquisitions senior specialist, locating new data sources and negotiating licensing agreements. Dorland previously had managed data acquisition efforts for Oklahoma City-based Hogan Information Services. He began his career with TRW’s Information Services Division, now Experian. Dorland holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business management/administration from the University of Northern Colorado.

Mr. Lovelady, whose 15 years as a sales executive include key leadership positions within the e-mail service provider sector, will direct new business development and strategic partner relationships in the western United States, overseeing regional sales directors and managing an inside sales team. He will report directly to Epsilon’s Interactive Services group’s senior vice president of sales, Eric Presbrey.

Mr. Lovelady comes to Epsilon from the email service provider startup Zustek Corp. where he built the company’s first sales and marketing teams. Previously, he led the sales team for email marketing provider, Yesmail. Lovelady also established Acxiom Digital’s Central Region office in Chicago, building a successful sales team in a large territory. He began his career at GE Capital Modular Space. Lovelady is an Air Force veteran and holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Cleary University.
