Time Inc.’s suspension of Life magazine – because of a decade of decline in newsstand sales across the industry, lack of promotion and the poor stamp sheet performance – seems akin to losing National Geographic. It also shows that the art and science of DM are more important than ever. It’s all a numbers game. Isn’t it ironic that the target audience for this magazine is the same group that the antisweeps folks claim they want to protect?
