Online payment service provider eBillit Inc. has changed its name to PaymentOne Corp.
The San Jose, CA, company said the name change was prompted by the growing use of its service. Its PhoneBill paying platform allows online consumers to pay for Internet access, digital content or premium services through their local telephone bill instead of using a credit card.
“The eBillit name has served us well in communicating to Internet-based companies in need of billing services,” company CEO Joe Lynam said in a statement. “However, market demands have changed, and our business has evolved as a result.”
PaymentOne will continue to serve and target Internet service providers, content publishers and other online firms. It handles validation, credit card processing, phone bill inclusion and customer management services for BlueLight.com. For Best Web USA it offers PhoneBill and for Website Pros PhoneBill and Validation services.
PhoneBill has been used to register more than 2.8 million subscribers. That platform helped boost PaymentOne revenue to $92.2 million for the quarter ended Sept. 30, up 179 percent from the same quarter last year.
