EBay Readies for eBay Live Show

eBay Inc. for the first time will allow buyers, sellers and collectors to interact with company management and service providers to discuss the world’s largest auction Web site.

Called eBay Live, more than 3,000 people are expected to attend the event June 21-23 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA. It is one of the rare marketing events aimed at generating buzz for an online service.

“eBay Live is more than an expo, it’s a celebration of the eBay community and open to anyone who uses the site or wants to learn how,” said a statement from eBay, San Jose, CA.

The agenda caters to varied interests. Registrants, for instance, can get insights from managers of eBay categories and business units and talk to Marsha Collier, author of “eBay for Dummies” and Adam Cohen, author of “The Perfect Store: Inside eBay.”

In addition, attendees can hear from service providers like AuctionWatch, ChannelAdvisor and Western Union Bid Pay, who are exhibiting at the trade show floor.

For those interested in how to buy and sell on eBay, there are classes for beginners to advanced users from eBay University. Attendees can also learn how to start a business on the auction site.

A key attraction is the morning keynote session June 22 by Meg Whitman, eBay’s president/CEO. She will speak about how users and sellers shaped eBay and future plans for the company. Senior management will be available the next day for questions from the attendees.

There also will be a performance by Super Diamond, the Neil Diamond tribute band.

Consumers have until June 19 to register online at www.ebay.com/ebaylive. They also can register at the convention center starting noon June 21. Registration is free. Portions of the event will be offered via Webcast on eBay.
